IPENZ
Foundation Scholarships
As part of the Foundation’s objective “To encourage New Zealand school leavers into tertiary education and technology”, scholarships worth $5,000 are offered each year, for the purpose of assisting with university costs. Students from Years 12 or 13 are eligible to apply and the winners are chosen on the basis of their intent to pursue engineering as a career, motivation to succeed, academic merit and contribution to the wider community.
In 2013 there are a number of scholarships available, both for those studying a four year Bachelor of Engineering – (BE), Bachelor of Engineering Honours – (BE (Hons)), or a three year Bachelor of Engineering Technology (BEngTech) degree.
The Foundation has been able to raise the profile of engineering amongst secondary school students and will continue to offer this type of scholarship each year. The Trustees would like to thank all candidates for their time and the considerable effort they went to in submitting an application.
The successful applicants from 2004 to 2012 have found the scholarship immensely helpful so the IPENZ Foundation encourages support from the Branches to help more students reach their potential. Currently the IPENZ Branches in Taranaki, Hawkes Bay, Nelson-Marlborough, Canterbury, South Canterbury, Wellington and Auckland co-fund additional regional scholarships.
