Brian Smellie Wins NZ Engineering Innovation Award

Brian Smellie, founder of Tekron International, is the award winner of the New Zealand Engineering Innovator of the Year 2005 in recognition of his ability to turn technical requirements into commercially viable electronic products. The award is sponsored by The Institution for Professional Engineers New Zealand Foundation.
Brian’s achievement was announced at the inaugural New Zealand Engineering Excellence Awards dinner held in the ballroom of Wellington’s Duxton Hotel on Wednesday, November 23.
Brian’s illustrious career spans three decades from starting out as a Telecom engineer and now developing cutting edge products. As founder of Tekron, Brian has played a key role in developing the company’s drive towards innovation and high quality products. Tekron’s innovative products have made waves it is now a prominent supplier of GPS clocks to the Australasian power industry with an emerging presence in the Asian, North American and Middle East markets. The clocks accurately calculate time in nanoseconds, or one billionth of a second, giving increased efficiency to the world’s power networks.
